Martial Arts Classes for Children Ages 7 - 15

Taekwondo Instruction in Wixom, Michigan

We aim to make every class at Akula Taekwondo the best martial arts instruction experience possible for kids in Novi, Wixom, Northville, South Lyon, Lyon Township, Farmington Hills, Walled Lake, Commerce Township, and surrounding areas. Kids, preteens, and teens learn and grow through our Taekwondo programs. Due to our rolling admissions, children may enroll in our martial arts program and begin learning at any time. We welcome kids who are new to martial arts, as well as those who have trained at other schools.

Children need a safe and welcoming place to expend their energy after school. So kids aged seven to fifteen love our Taekwondo (Korean Karate) Children’s Program. Our Taekwondo kids set big goals, work hard, and follow-through to achieve them. They also have fun and make friends. The children’s successes give them the skills, confidence, and focus needed to succeed in school, at home, and on the playing field.

Character traits developed through traditional Taekwondo practice positively influence students’ work ethic, productivity, and behavior on and off the mat. Happier, more confident students lead to happier families, which lead to more cohesive communities.

We are committed to creating and maintaining an atmosphere of positive energy and respect at our dojang, and support each student in reaching his or her martial arts, fitness, and personal goals.

PARENTS KNOW THAT MARTIAL ARTS GROWS GREAT KIDS

Studying Martial Arts Builds Physical Coordination and Control

Children who attend martial arts classes learn to control their movements. They also practice hand-eye coordination and learn about their bodies. That means they’ll be less likely to be unintentionally destructive.

Karate Kids Learn to Focus

The structure of our martial arts classes shows kids the importance of focus. Children immediately apply their skills to tasks on the mat. Further, the focus they learn in the dojang carries over to home and  classroom. That’s why kids who study martial arts tend to be good students, too.

Martial Arts Helps Kids Deal with Frustration

Progressing through the belt ranks in our Taekwondo school requires consistent attendance and practice. Thus, children, teens, and tweens learn to be patient and disciplined in order to get what they want. The physical activity in our classes also helps kids manage stress and anxiety through intense physical exercise.

Kids Who Practice Martial Arts Learn Good Sportsmanship

Our students to support one another’s successes and achievements. When a student earns a stripe or belt, everyone applauds. Through in-class games and tournaments, students learn that losing is part of life–and it’s what you do after you lose that tells people who you are. Even though martial arts is an individual sport, we cultivate a supportive environment where students root for one another.
